Blythewood, South Carolina
Reliable Plumbing You Can Count On
Trusted by families and businesses alike, from leaks to installations, we cover it all.
Blythewood sits about 22 miles northeast of our Lexington shop, on the far side of Columbia off I-77. It's one of the fastest-growing towns in the state, and new subdivisions keep going up faster than the roads and utility lines can always keep pace, while a handful of homes near the old town center predate most of that growth by more than a century. Our trucks make the run out this way regularly, not just for emergencies, because a town changing this fast needs plumbers who know both brand-new construction and the older properties nobody's gotten around to updating yet.

About the Area
A Look at Blythewood
Blythewood started out as a railroad stop called Doko, a name believed to mean "watering place," where steam engines once pulled in to take on water. The settlement was renamed Blythewood around 1877 after a local girls' school, the Blythewood Female Institute, and the town incorporated in 1879. It actually sat in Fairfield County until 1913, when residents frustrated with poor roads and underfunded schools there petitioned to join Richland County instead, and part of the town still straddles that county line today. The oldest building left standing, the Hoffman House from around 1855, now serves as Blythewood's town hall. Beyond that history, Blythewood has built a reputation around horses: the University of South Carolina's equestrian team is based here, and the area has hosted training grounds for U.S. Olympic equestrian teams.
Plumbing Considerations
What Makes Blythewood Different
Blythewood doesn't own its own water and sewer system, which makes it a little more complicated than most of the towns we serve. Water generally reaches the town through the Town of Winnsboro, which buys its supply from the City of Columbia, while sewer service across large stretches of Blythewood runs through Palmetto Utilities, and some of the newer developments tie directly into Columbia's system instead. That patchwork exists because Blythewood's population has more than doubled in back-to-back census counts, and building permits have outpaced what the original lines were built to handle. Subdivisions built in the last decade or two are almost always on full municipal water and sewer, but some older properties near the town's original center, and a few homes further out past where lines currently reach, still rely on a private well. We service both sides of that line, same-day, regardless of which utility is on the account.

Comprehensive Services
Full-Service Plumbing for Blythewood
Rapid growth means we see a wide range of calls in Blythewood, from a fixture that was never quite set right in a brand-new build to decades-old plumbing in one of the homes near the original town center. Our crews run and on everything from a new subdivision's first clog to years of buildup in an older line. When a newer home's main line or irrigation tie-in develops a slow leak that never surfaces on its own, our equipment tracks it down before the water bill gives it away. Older properties with aging supply lines sometimes have a leak working its way under the slab instead, which is where our crew steps in. We also handle installs for new builds and nobody's replaced yet. See our full list of services for everything in between.

Why Choose Us
Why Choose Dr Rooter in Blythewood
Most of what's going up in Blythewood right now is new construction, and new construction brings its own plumbing hiccups: a fixture installed in a hurry, a water heater sized wrong for the house, a connection nobody pressure-tested before the drywall went up. At the same time, a handful of Blythewood's older homes near the historic town center are still running plumbing that hasn't been touched since the house was built. Our technicians work both ends of that range often enough that we're rarely guessing what we're dealing with before we even open the truck. Every call still comes with a licensed, background-checked plumber and a clear price before we start, whether the house went up last year or last century.
