Do I need a battery backup?

If your area is prone to power outages during storms, which is exactly when your sump pump is working hardest, a battery backup is a smart investment to keep your home protected.

How often should a sump pump be serviced?

We recommend a check once a year, ideally before the rainy season, to confirm the pump, float switch and discharge line are all working properly.

Can you install a sump pump where there isn't one already?

Yes, we can install a new sump pit and pump system in a basement or crawl space that doesn't currently have one.

Common Issues

Common Sump Pump Problems in West Columbia

Pump Won't Turn On

A stuck float switch or a tripped breaker are common, often simple, causes.

Pump Runs Constantly

This can mean the pump is undersized for the amount of water coming in, or the check valve has failed.

Frequent Power Outages During Storms

The exact time your pump is needed most is often when the power goes out, which is why a battery backup matters.

Clogged Discharge Line

Debris or freezing in the discharge line can stop water from actually leaving the house.

Aging Pump

Most sump pumps last 7 to 10 years, and older units are more likely to fail during a major storm.

Loud or Unusual Noises

Grinding or rattling sounds can indicate a failing motor or debris caught in the pump.
