Home Upgrades for 2021

Man renovating his kitchen

The new year has just begun, and it’s a great opportunity to take a look at all aspects of your life and determine what’s working for you and what’s not. The new year has always symbolized new beginnings and fresh starts, and what better place to start than with a new page for your home?

Keep reading for our must-have home upgrades for 2021!

Water Heater

Upgrade your shower experience and lower your water and energy bills by ditching your old water heater and getting a new one. There are a few things to consider before making your next water heater purchase.

  • Tank or Tankless. There are pros and cons to both options. Storage tank water heaters are far less expensive than their tankless counterparts, but they are less efficient and cost more to operate in the long run. While tankless water heaters can be significantly more expensive to purchase and install but are well known for their efficiency and low operating costs.
  • Fuel Source. Your options are either gas or electric. Depending on what fuel source your home already uses and what the fuel options are in your area, your decision might already be made for you. Gas appliances can save you up to 30 percent on your utility bills, but not all locations will have access to it.

Plumbing Fixtures

Updating your plumbing fixtures throughout your home is a fun and easy way to give your home an aesthetic and functional upgrade!

Garbage Disposal

Does your kitchen sink have a garbage disposal installed? If not, add this to your list of home upgrades. Outside of just being convenient, a garbage disposal can also help to cut down on odors within your home. While your garbage disposal will help you to dispose of food scraps, you have to be careful of what you toss down the drain.

Avoid tossing these food items:

  • Grease and fat
  • Bones
  • Starches
  • Fibrous foods
  • Coffee grounds and eggshells

Outdoor Living Space

Last year we got used to getting creative with how we spent our time, and most of it included spending more time outside; and since COVID doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, why not make your outdoor space even more inviting?

An outdoor living space is a great addition to your home, whether it’s just you and your family enjoying it or you like having guests over to entertain.

There are a few options you can explore. Either create a really comfortable and chic sitting area or go all out with an outdoor kitchen, dining, and sitting area.

Here are some photos you can use as inspiration:
